“It is too soon” – Barcelona scout confirms Man Utd target Leon Goretzka is not on their radar
Barcelona scout Ariedo Braida has revealed that the club won’t be pursuing a deal for Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.
The Germany international, who was part of his country’s successful side at the Confederations Cup this summer, has been heavily linked with a move away from Schalke, where he has less than a year remaining on his current contract.

Barcelona have been monitoring Goretzka’s situation but Braida feels that, while the 22-year-old is a talented player, he isn’t yet of the required quality to make the switch to the Nou Camp.As reported by goal, Braida said: “He is certainly a great player, but for Barcelona it is too soon.
“I travel around the world in search of great talent, but our demands are extremely high.”

Goretzka has created four chances in the Bundesliga so far this season, while he has also averaged four defensive actions per game.
Leon Goretzka has attempted 244 passes in the Bundesliga this season.
However, the prospect’s distribution hasn’t been of a particularly high standard as he has been successful with just 74 per cent of the passes that he has attempted. The fact that Goretzka has only completed 17 per cent of his attempted take-ons may also have concerned Barcelona.
Several major clubs have been linked with Goretzka, including Manchester United, and it will be intriguing to see where he ends up.
