Capcom unveils Resident Evil 2: Collector's Edition with new details and redesign
After making its first appearance at E3 2018 last month, Capcom's Resident Evil 2 remake has surfaced once again to offer fresh details about the upcoming title. Capcom announced at the 2018 Comic-Con International in San Diego that Resident Evil 2: Collector's Edition will introduce a complete redesign of the Raccoon City Police Department and the game's characters.
For those unaware, the game will be a total remake of the original classic survival-horror game instead of being a remastered version. In Resident Evil 2: Collector's Edition, Leon S. Kennedy takes on a younger look which gives him a fresh-faced rookie appearance. Leon also gets a new suite of unique costumes along with Claire, another protagonist in the game. Capcom's Kellen Haney said in a blog post that the design team used photogrammetry to create a physical version of the costumes and scan them into the game with minor changes.
Additionally, there is a pervading sense of wetness and fear of darkness in the entire Raccoon City permeating throughout the game.
The Resident Evil 2: Collector’s Edition will be available exclusively at GameStop and EB Games in North America for $199.99. The package includes the full game, special deluxe packaging, extra DLC pack card, Ben Bertolucci's 32-page book containing photos and files documenting the events after the Raccoon City tragedy, and a voucher code for a 25-track album.
The game is expected to arrive on the PlayStation 4 on January 25, 2019. Capcom also previously confirmed that the Resident Evil 2 remake will be making its way to the PC and Xbox One for $59.99.
