Governor Akinwunmi Ambode led the pack of All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains who won their various polling unit during yesterday’s council election across Lagos State.
National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, also delivered their polling units to the ruling party.
APC won both the chairmanship and councillorship elections in Ward A6 polling Unit 033 located in Ogunmodede College, Papa Epe where Governor Ambode voted. The APC polled a total of 299 votes for the chairmanship election as against one polled by the Labour Party and zero vote polled respectively by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party.
For the councillorship election in the unit, the APC polled a total of 293 votes as against one polled by Labour Party and zero polled by PDP. In the second polling unit in the ward, APC polled 298 votes for the Chairmanship election as against zero vote polled by the PDP and Labour. Also in the councillorship election, APC polled 300 votes while the PDP, Labour and Accord Party all polled zero vote.
Adebule thanked the people honouring Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with their votes.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu humbled the PDP by delivering her 034 Bourdilon Road polling unit to the APC. Of the 51 votes cast, the APC scored 44 for chairmanship and 43 for councillorship positions, leaving the PDP with paltry six votes for both positions being contested in the Local Government elections. One of the votes cast was invalid.
APC also won in Iwerekun II polling unit, in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, where the lawmaker representing Lagos East in the Senate, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, hails from. APC candidates polled 987 votes each, beating their rivals in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored seven votes each.
The story was similar at the Grammar School, Ota-Ona road polling unit in Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state where the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Bolanle Sanai Agunbiade, voted. APC won the unit with 56 votes while its closest rival, the Labour Party garnered 21 votes. The PDP came a distant third with eight votes.
However, former Governor of Lagos State and Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola did not vote on Saturday at Lagos’ Local Government election held across the state. The former governor was conspicuously missing at Ward G3, Unit 002, State Senior Grammer School, Itolo, where he normally vote.
